Sikkim schools, colleges and all educational institutions to remain closed till April 30 amid COVID 19 surge – Times Now

Sikkim schools, colleges and all educational institutions will remain closed till April 30, 2021, due to the rapid surge in COVID 19 cases in the state. The state Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang announces on April 20 that all educational institutions in the state will remain closed till the said date. All the government offices in the state will function with 50 per cent capacity from April 22, 2021, until further notice.
The official statement from CM Prem Singh Tamang says, “Educational institutions in #Sikkim will remain closed till April 30; government offices will function with 50% capacity”. The decision comes after schools were initially announced remain closed till April 20 through a notification from the state home department.

Earlier on April 19, the Tashiling secretariat under the state home department was declared a containment zone, following two COVID positive tested officials. This office releases various government notification and safety protocols in the state. Following this, the Sikkim government decided to allow government offices to work with 50 per cent capacity.

The Sikkim Chief Minister has urged the people not to indulge in unnecessary travel out of Sikkim and strictly abide by COVID-19 guidelines. As per the latest updates, Sikkim schools, colleges, and educational institutions will remain closed until April 30, 2021, amid COVID 19 surge.
