Delhi University reopens tomorrow, colleges plan classes in hybrid mode for First Year students – Times Now

Delhi University, DU is all set to reopen from tomorrow – February 17, 2022 and welcome back both UG, PG students. As the Varsity prepares to commence with offline classes, several DU Colleges like Miranda House are more inclined towards having lectures in hybrid mode for First Year students.
Delhi University reopening announcement was made by the Varsity officials, soon after the demands for offline classes intensified. At a time when COVID curbs across the country are being eased, DU also decided to reopen for its students as many had been waiting for it for quite some time.
As per a report in PTI, several DU Colleges are still more focused at complete offline classes for senior batches like second and third-year students. Even though colleges have not said a no to offline lectures for First Year students, they seem more inclined at having a blended mode of learning so that students can gradually ease into the new environment.
Miranda House Principal Bijayalaxmi Nanda told PTI, “We will have a blended/hybrid mode of education and students will be provided academic support to ease stress.” She also mentioned that online study and resource materials will be provided to all students. The same report also mentions that Rajdhani College would have online classes for First Year students and officials of Aryabhatta College also said that no student would be pressurised to come for offline classes.

While Delhi University reopening is starting from tomorrow, the allotment of hostels might take some time. Previous reports suggest that since the Varsity has been shut since almost 2 years, the preparations of hostels is taking time and hence, students might have to wait to get their places.
