Shotgun World Championship announced
Vivaan Kapoor, Shreyasi Singh, Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Maheshwari Chauhan will spearhead the Indian challenge in trap and skeet in the shotgun World Championship to be staged in Osijek, Croatia, from September 19 to October 12.
The championship will offer four Olympic quota places each for trap and skeet for men and women for Paris 2024.
Apart from the individual events, India will also compete in the team events in all sections, including juniors. The top two shooters in each event will also compete in the mixed team events.
WTA 1000: Sania Mirza advances to women’s doubles semis
Playing her first tournament since this year's Wimbledon, Sania Mirza is through to the women's doubles semifinals of the WTA1000 event in Toronto.
Sania and her American partner Madison Keys defeated the Kazakh-American pair of Yulia Putintseva and Sofia Kenin 7-5, 3-6, [10-6] in the quarterfinals on Friday.
Sania and Keys will be up against the third-seeded all-American duo of Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff in the final-four fixture on Saturday.
Montreal Masters: Bopanna-Middelkoop pair loses in second round
Rohan Bopanna and Matwe Middelkoop were beaten 6-1, 6-7(3), [12-10] by Hubert Hurkacz and Jan Zielinski in the doubles pre-quarterfinals of the ATP1000 tennis tournament in Montreal.
The Indo-Dutch pair collected 90 ATP points and $25,420.
In the Challenger in Germany, Sumit Nagal went down fighting in three sets to the top seed Bernabe Zapata Miralles in the quarterfinals.
In the ITF men’s event in Jakarta, Sasikumar Mukund cruised past Lee Duckhee for the loss of one game in the quarterfinals, while SD Prajwal Dev went down in three sets after missing three match points in the second set tie-break against Shintaro Imai.
