1 Prince Usman Hamzat, Chairman, Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area of Lagos State, has said that 1,600 residents have benefitted from an ongoing free grassroots health outreach organised by the council.
2 Hamzat, who disclosed this in Lagos on Tuesday, when he visited the ongoing exercise, said that the medical outreach was to achieve health care for all residents of the council area.
3 According to him, the outreach is an initiative of the council in partnership with Ilera Eko, and Lagos Blood Transfusion Department.
4 “This is another avenue we are using to achieve our campaign promises to the residents and a core part of which is to ensure adequate health care delivery for every residents of Ifako-Ijaiye local government area.
5 “We call on all residents to take advantage of the health outreach which is taken to their doorsteps.
6 “This exercise gives residents an opportunity to know and improve on their health status.
7 “And we thank the outreach partners for their kindness and support to make the project a success,” he said.
8 The council chairman said that the health care began three weeks ago and within the short time, the council had been able to touch the lives of 1,600 residents in a specific and impactful ways.
9 According to him, some of the health services rendered by the outreach include: HIV test, COVID-19 vaccine, immunisation, BP checks, oxygen screening, blood donation, supplement, health insurance, and free drugs dispensing.
10 He added that also available at the venues include free LASRRA registration services.
11 Hamzat said the health initiatives had been going round from one centre and street to another.
12 “In the first week, the team went through Iju Ogundimu Street, Palace; Iju Central Mosque, Iju Ishaga; and Dynamics Faith Bible church, all in Ifako-Ijaiye area.
13 The chairman added that in the second week, the exercise was held at Ashabi Taiwo junction, Obawole Ifako;Istijabat Central Mosque, Obawole Ifako; Pillar of Faith Assembly, Olusesi Iju Ishaga community.
14 Mrs Bosede Gboyega, one of the beneficiaries, thanked the local government management for the free treatment without either paying for consultation or incuring medical bills.
15 Gboyega, a resident of Oku Ogundimu in Ifako-Ijaiye local government, thanked the council chairman for the kind gesture.
16 Mr Rasheed Aderibigbe, another beneficiary, thanked the council chairman for free medical outreach for the residents.
17 Aderibigbe added that such treatments would help residents to discover hiding ailments in the body system.
18 “Apart from the free screening and medical tests, we were also treated and given drugs without paying.
19 “We really thank the chairman for this opportunity and pray for more success in his tenure,” he said.
