To make progress in any sector, three basic factors are required — education, health and security; and under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gujarat has done well in all three, said Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Thursday.
The chief minister was addressing a gathering after launching the 17th edition of Kanya Kelavani & Shala Praveshotsav, the annual school enrollment drive of the state government, at Memadpur village of Vadgam tehsil in
Banaskantha district.
“With an aim to make Gujarat growth engine and to strengthen the foundation of education in the state, Narendrabhai (Modi) started Kanya Kelavani & Shala Praveshotsav in 2003. And if the foundation of education is strong, then we can make progress in each and every field,” the chief minister said.
The drive was started in Gujarat by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2003 when he was the Chief Minister of the state.
According to District Primary Education Officer of Banaskantha Sanjay Parmar, “Total 71 eligible children were enrolled in Class 1 by the CM at two government primary schools (one each for boys and girls) in Memadpur village. Thirty five children (in the age group of 3-5) were also enrolled in the Anganwadi of Memadpur.”
In Banaskantha, more than 15,000 children were enrolled in Class 1 Thursday under the drive.
Memadpur is a village of Vadgam tehsil, which is part of Vadgam assembly constituency in Banaskantha district, represented by independent MLA Jignesh Mevani who has pledged support to opposition Congress.
The CM said that education is necessary if we want to take benefit of technology in any sphere and attempts have always been made to strengthen this in Gujarat. And because of those attempts, he said, the drop out ratio of Gujarat has dropped significantly. Claiming that the Gujarat government has made available best facilities for engineering education and medical services in the sate, the CM referred to the state government’s performance in dealing with Covid-19 pandemic “under the guidance of PM Narendrabhai”.
The CM also cited the Ayushman Card initiative of the government under which an eligible person can get medical benefits upto Rs 5 lakh for any ailment.
Talking about security, CM said, “Earlier, before going to Ahmedabad, people here would have to first get checked if everything is fine there. Many elders must have seen that two decades ago. (But) the young ones, who are 20-22 years-old, would not even know what is unrest.”
