Bihar: Schools closed for students till Class 8, offline classes for 9 to 12 with 50% capacity – Guidelines – Times Now

Bihar Government today announced fresh restrictions and curbs amid the rising COVID19 cases in the state. Keeping in view the vaccination drive for children and the rising cases, the state has announced the closure of all schools in the state till Class 8. Offline classes would be permitted for students of classes 9 to 12, with restrictions.
Announcing the fresh curbs, Bihar Government has decided to implement statewide night curfew and shut all schools till Class 8 and pre-schools. The orders would be implemented from January 6, 2021 – Thursday. Schools are to remain closed till January 21. Apart from Bihar, schools in Punjab, Chattisgarh, Haryana, West Bengal, etc. have also closed. Check State wise list of school closure here.
As for Classes 9 to 12, offline classes are permitted in this duration but with 50% capacity. For the pre-school and classes 1 to 8, online classes would resume. The official release states, “Pre-school and 1 to 8 classes to remain close, online classes will continue. Educational institutions of classes 9-12 will function on 50 per cent capacity. Restrictions are to remain in effect from January 6 to 21.”
It further read, “Night curfew will be imposed from 10 pm to 5 am. Religious places to remain closed. Malls, cinemas, clubs, swimming pools, stadiums, gyms, parks will also remain close till January 21.”
Earlier this week schools in Patna were shut following extreme cold weather conditions. The cases, however, continued to rise, raising concerns. Though the number were relatively less, the surge has been rather rapid, raising concerns over the present situation across the country and the urgency to contain the third wave. As many as 344 new cases were reported by the state yesterday, taking the total number of active cases closer to 1400 in the state.
